Privacy
Your files never leave your computer. This page says what that means, and the little the site itself handles.

Your files
Every FormatYard tool runs inside your browser tab. When you choose or drop a file, it is read on your own computer and the result is made there too. The file is not sent to us or to anyone else, so we never see it and cannot keep it.
So that a reload does not lose your work, the files on a tool page and their results are kept in your browser's own storage on your device while the tab is open, and for 24 hours after you close it. Then they are removed. Clear all, under the file list, removes them at once. They stay on your device the whole time.
When you drop or choose a file on the home page and open the tool it points you to, the file is kept in your browser's own storage on your device for that one page, so you do not have to add it twice. The tool page takes it as it opens and removes it from there; a file not taken within 10 minutes is not used, and the next one replaces it. It is never sent anywhere.
When you close the tab, the file and the result are gone from the page. The copy you download is yours, in your own downloads folder.
A password you type to open a locked PDF is used in that tab only, to open the PDF on your device. It is not kept with the file and is not sent anywhere, so after a reload the PDF asks for it again.
A password you set when making a PDF locks it on your device. It is not sent anywhere and not kept after you close the tab, so we cannot open the PDF or recover the password.

What the site loads
The pages, their styles and fonts, and the converter itself come from our own server. The converter is only loaded after you choose a file, and your browser may keep it in its cache so the next file starts faster.
The site loads nothing from other companies: no outside fonts, no social buttons, no tracking scripts.
One exception you start yourself: when you paste a link to a picture into an image tool, your browser fetches that picture straight from the site the link points to, as it would if you opened the picture there. We are not in between and do not see the link or the picture.
03
Cookies, analytics and ads
Today the site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and shows no ads. If that changes (ads may become how the free tools are paid for), this page will say so before it happens, and you will be asked first wherever the law requires it.
04
Server logs
Like any website, the service that hosts these pages may keep short-lived technical logs of requests (the address that asked, the time, the page and the browser) to keep the site running and safe. They never contain your files, because your files are never sent.
